Case Study 1: Step Into the International Olympic Committee: Strategic Decision Making and Ethical Dilemmas in Host Site Selection

For this Assignment, imagine that you have been appointed as an IOC member. The time has come to vote on a host city for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. One bid in front of you is from Qatar. Utilizing outside research and this weeks assigned readings, identify potential concerns and potential benefits that exist should Qatar be selected to host the Games. Then, working through each step of strategic decision making, consider how you would vote when it comes to Qatar hosting the 2024 Olympic Games.

Submit by Saturday, a 3- to 5-page paper in which you do the following:

Using the template provided and in narrative form, explain how you, as an IOC member, would analyze each step of strategic decision making as it relates to whether you would select Qatar as an Olympic Games host site.
Evaluate the economic, political, and cultural components of this case study that would affect strategic decision making related to globalization.
The template includes the following sections:

An explanation of alternatives and/or strategies the organization may consider, focusing on internal and external factors
An assessment of the pros and cons of each alternative and/or strategy
