“The Nymphs Reply to the Shepherd” BY SIR WALTER RALEIGH

PRIMARY SOURCES: Choose one of the poems we have discussed in class so far.

SECONDARY SOURCES: Use the secondary sources from the unit of your chosen poem and the class Discussion board to help you write a close analysis of what the poem in terms of poetic devices the poet used.

ANALYSIS: Show your understanding of the different literary devices (meter, rhyme, symbols, visuals, sounds) the poet chose to express her/his ideas in the poem.

SUPPORT: Pay special attention to the speaker, specific words, images, and symbols used. Use multiple quotes from the poem and the secondary sources as evidence.

Follow MLA guidelines (remember what you learned in ENG 101, use the resources I included below in the Writing and MLA folder)
paper should be 4 pages long, INCLUDING:
Introduction: containing a description of the poet, poem and three poetic devices that s/he uses.
Body: containing no less than 3 paragraphs. Describe and explain the poem in detail. Use select quotes from the poem to show how it uses the poetic devices.
Conclusion: In which you explain why looking at poetic devices helps us understand the poem’s meaning.
