Power, Politics, and Government

Comment on these 2 themes in this week’s discussion board.

This documentary is important because it explains the nature of decision making and policy across a wide spectrum of politics that affect our political decision making process. How are we as a nation supposed to effect our juvenile court process if our system is awash in non traceable big money. This video explains the nature of hidden big money in politics and the corrupting effects on policy. We understand that juvenile issues related to the juvenile justice system must be under ongoing scrutiny but how are we supposed to reform  and monitor justice systems when the entire political system is awash in special interest money. The political process is directly related to our governmental system and how rapidly it can respond to current conditions in the juvenile justice process. What changes in the political process could facilitate change in the juvenile justice system?

The first video is a simple response from a police chief to current existing conditions which show that children as young as 10 begin breaking the law. The police chief explains how he sees the role of police  and the community.

The second documentary explains the problems with the political system itself which is being dominated by hidden big money allowed to flow freely into any political campaign without knowing who is contributing the money or what the purpose this money plays in the crucial decision making policy.
