Extinguishing Agents and Apparatus Strategies

In a 2-3 page paper, the equivalent of 500 words (+/- 10%) using APA format with intext ciations, please provide a case analysis for the ARFF scenario described below.

Scenario

In 1994 at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina, there was an exercise that ended in a tragedy known as the Green Ramp Disaster where 24 paratroopers were killed.

In the traffic pattern at the time of the crash were an F-16 and a C-130. The F-16 was flying an SFO (simulated flameout) profile and hit the C-130 on short final. The C-130 landed, but the F-16 crew (two pilots) had to eventually eject sending the F-16 into the Green Ramp where it hit a parked C-141 transport aircraft. Tragically, the trajectory of the F-16 took it to where a mass of paratroopers was waiting to form up to board the cargo aircraft. Several of the soldiers tried to outrun the subsequent fireball but were trapped by flying debris. An additional hazard was the ammunition that was going off from the soldiers’ weapons.

Explain from the ARFF driver standpoint how you would position and activate the means necessary to support the fire suppression required from the Green Ramp disaster

Keep in mind that the C-141 that was hit by the F-16 was full of fuel. In addition, the F-16 that hit the parked C-141 was in full afterburner.

In your case analysis, include these elements:

What type of extinguishing agent would you use?

How would you keep your trucks supplied with water and extinguishing agent?

What is the priority during fire fighting and rescue operations?

The following should be expressed within your case analysis:

Summary

Problem

Significance of the problem

Two alternative actions

Two advantages and disadvantages per alternative action
