Threats-
According to Comparative Analysis of the Global Forest/Non-Forest Maps Derived from SAR and Optical Sensors. Case Studies from Brazilian Amazon and Cerrado Biomes , “The increasing demand for food, products,
and energy, either from forests themselves (e.g., timbers for exportation) or from the lands replacing the forests (e.g., water reservoirs for hydroelectric power generation and clear-cut terrains for livestock and cropland) is the primary cause of forest loss”.
Deforestation-happens because of farming, logging, mining, and roads.
Farming- People want to farm in tropical rainforests because the global demand for meat has went up. So many cattle farms have opened in the Amazon Basin for beef farming. Arable farming is also responsible for the loss of tropical rainforests because many farmers clear land to grow cash crops.
Logging- trees are cut down in tropical rainforests because the rainforests have very valuable trees such as mahogany. These are sold for timber in order to make furniture.
Mining-The amazon basin has a lot of valuable resources such as gold, aluminum, and copper. Due to this many mines have been built.
Roads- Because of roads being built this biome is being destroyed. Miners, farmers, and loggers use these roads.
Hydroelectric Power-Hydroelectric power stations in the Amazon Basin has caused tropical rainforests to flood because people are trying to make dams and reservoirs.

Location on earth- Tropical rainforests can be found in South America, central America, western Africa, central Africa, western India, Southeast Asia, the island of New Guinea, and Australia. These places are basically in between the latitudes of 23.5°N and 23.5°S which is also considered the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn
High temperatures (70 degrees Fahrenheit and 85 degrees Fahrenheit)

Nutrients are washed out of the soil very quickly due to the heavy rainfall.
Okapis-have large ears that help them sense large predators and they have large bodies that help them blend into the shadows.
Tapirs- are born with coats that are spotted and striped and this is their camouflage.
Sloths- use their behavioral adaptation and its camouflage to be able to survive in the rainforest.
Toucans-have adapted big long bills and this allows the bird to get fruit off of branches that are not big enough to support the bird.
Poison dart frogs-use their bright colors to warn off predators.

Lianas are vines that have roots in the ground but they climb up trees in order to get the sunlight.
Tree trunks are tall and thin in order to allow trees to reach sunlight.
The bark is smooth for water to be able to flow down easily to the roots.
Drip tips have leaves with tips that are pointy. Because of this water can run off the leaves and the leaves won’t be damaged.
Buttress roots are large and they have ridges. These ridges make a big surface area that supports the large trees.
