NOTE: Most of this work is done outside of class. You can set up your own Zoom times to do your research together (like working together in class, not always talking, but working, sharing, and asking questions as needed). Groups will meet in Zoom with the professor during this assignment.
1. Form your group from pairs of students who completed the Concept Analysis together. Everyone read the assignment instructions in the syllabus, rubric, and exemplar paper. Watch the lecture instructions recording. Use them to guide your efforts.
2. As a Group, discuss the clinical problems nurses deal with and choose one – not all of the Group has to be experiencing the problem as long as they understand it.
3. Choose a theory from the syllabus that can be used to examine your Group problem and used to propose changes/interventions to improve care
4. All students contribute to all the work but you will take leadership roles. Two students will be overall leads for the paper (strongest writers). One student will take the lead for scheduling Zoom and in-person meetings, as well as meeting with the Professor (best organizer). One student will take the lead for the poster presentation (most creative).
5. Re-read assignment instructions in the syllabus, rubric, and exemplar paper but now be thinking about your Group’s chosen theory and clinical problem when reading them.
6. In your Group Google folder, using the blank Application of Theory to Practice template, paper leads create the section headings using the exemplar paper
a. In the opening section (Introduction) write a draft purpose statement using the example (basically the outline of the paper). This sets the goals for the paper. Write “The purpose of this paper is to….”
7. Application of the Theory in Research and/or Practice Literature Review (30%): Each person will find two peer-reviewed journal articles/reports that use the theory in some research or practice way. The clinical problem does not need to match. Write ONE paragraph for each of your articles. Use the exemplar please.
a. Upload your articles into the sub-folder in the Group Google Folder. Go into the folder and click UPLOAD then click on each article – like when you put something into BB
b. Enter citation on Reference page right away when you find the article – even if not APA, just get it on there because there cannot be duplicates. The first student who enters the citation will be the one to use that article.
8. Divide up the work in the other sections using the percentages for the amount of work – Introduction (10%), Description of Theory (10%), Application to Practice Case Study (25%), Description of Problem (10%), Alternate Theory (10%), Conclusion (5%), Reference/APA reviewer
9. Everyone is responsible for complete paper (and poster), but use your strengths
10. Final review of paper – Leads make sure everyone agrees the paper is done. One person downloads as a Word (in Google doc click file, download, Word), checks the formatting again after download, and uploads into the BB assignment submission tab.
