A literary analysis or film evaluation is an opinion. The writer forms an opinion about a literary work or film, then presents that opinion (and, more importantly, evidence supporting that opinion) in the form of an essay. Essays about literature / film should be written in third-person point of view, like any other analytical essay.
For this assignment, write a two – three page literary analysis or film evaluation (your choice) focusing on a piece of literature or film you have a thorough understanding of that presents something noble about the human condition. No super heroes, aliens, monsters, or imaginary subject matter. The subject must be something about people. How does it show the power of the human spirit?
The analysis should offer an opinion backed up by evidence from both the primary source and credible secondary sources detailing why the selected work is a quality piece of literature or film worth the time of a reader / viewer. Include three forms of support from the primary source, and one form of support from three separate credible secondary sources to support your opinion. Use internal parenthetical citations in the body and complete bibliographic citations on a references page to document the use of all sources.
All drafts must be submitted in MLA format, as Word documents, using internal parenthetical citations in the body of the essay and complete bibliographic citations on a works cited page to document the use of all sources.
