Critique Essay
Find an in-depth treatment of your problem in a credible source and write a 4-5 page critical essay about it. The writing should be a credible journalistic source, a chapter from a book published by a selective publisher or an academic article. The writing should be at least five pages long and/or at least 1500 words.
Remember that a critique is not the same as a rebuttal. You should offer well-reasoned and supported arguments about what the writing does well and where it falls short.
Your critique should include a discussion of the criteria you use for analyzing the source. Ideally, the source you critique should not be one that you either entirely agree or disagree with. Offer specific examples of strengths and weaknesses and analysis showing how they add to or detract from the authors conclusion.
Your paper should be properly cited in MLA format. If you only cite the piece you are critiquing, that is valid. You may cite other sources to establish facts that help your critique, but do not use other critiques of the piece. I want to see your original work. If you read a critique that you are building on, you should cite that using MLA format. In addition, you need to show some additional original analysis.
