aboriginal healing initiates

Healing Initiatives Paper Value: 30% Due: March 11th, 2020

The Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples (RCAP) of 1996 reported that the restoration of Aboriginal
health from the wounds of culture loss, paternalistic and racist treatment, and government-sanctioned
policies of assimilation was already underway in many Indigenous communities. Students will write an
academic paper describing and critically analyzing a culturally-based healing initiative from one of the
Canadian provinces or territories. This healing initiative can be but is not limited to programs,
interventions, policy changes, agencies, or practice frameworks so long as it incorporates traditional
Aboriginal customs, practices, values, concepts, and/or spirituality.

Papers must not exceed 8 pages of text body, not including the title page and references. Papers should be
formatted using current APA standards and move beyond description to include a critical analysis of the
selected healing initiative. Students are encouraged to be creative in selecting a culturally-based healing
initiative.

A minimum of 8 academic/scholarly sources must be referenced to support your work
