Last week I chose the SQ3R method reading strategy to try out this week. The SQ3R method entails the following steps: survey, ques!on, read, recall, and review. Using this method I read the short story three !mes and spent about twenty minutes reading it each !me. I the first !me I read it I wasskimming it while looking for headings, topics, and key words that might be important. The second !me I read it I was reading at my normal speedwhile marking parts that I thought needed to be read carefully and taking notes on important details. The third and final !me I read it I went over theparts that I marked up with a fine tooth comb looking for important informa!on. I did have a hard !me remembering that this story was suppose to betaking place in the future as it felt more 1950s to me with the reading poetry and the bridge tables with mar!nis. I had to keep reminding myself aboutthe se$ng of the story. I really found using this method to be helpful and will defiantly be using it more o"en. I really liked skimming the story beforereading to help me get an idea of what I'm going to be reading. I think that the next !me I use this method I will write down more ques!ons to askmyself as I'm reading to ensure that I'm understanding what I'm reading.

I chose PSR Strategy. PSR- Preview, it starts the process of reading, skim the reading, develop ques!ons, and predict answers, who what when whereand how, recalling prior knowledge. Study reading, you begin with the ques!ons you began with the preview. Read from paragraph to paragraph.Answer your previous ques!ons from the preview. Monitor what you have read before moving on. Take notes to prepare for the review stage. Iden!fythe main idea. Review by confirming the main ideas presented and then organize the new informa!on that you have found. Ini!ally when reading thear!cle There will come so" rains, I skimmed through the ar!cle looking for important facts. I found that the author of this ar!cle !mes everything. Ichose to highlight the !mes that were men!oned and notated what was happening during those !mes. I found it very interes!ng that in the futurethey were men!oning the !me frames so frequently. It made me wonder if the narrator of the ar!cle was the clock? It was keeping track of events thatwere happening by the hour. I s!ll don't think I would change the strategy I use for reading. I like to be able to preview what I'm reading and skimthrough the details prior to reading the full ar!cle because then I have a brief idea of what I am ge$ng into.
