Autism spectrum disorder causes hardship when it comes to social interactions, communicating with others, behavior, and learning (Austims spectrum disorder, n.d.). It is a neurodevelopment disorder that may develop in early childhood. The cause of ASD is hereditary/genetics. Gene anomaly seems to be a common factor when a child is diagnosed with ASD. Symptoms can vary from case to case but overall include withdrawl from participation, having difficulty communicating effectively, repetitive behaviors, and expressing emotions when there is a change to a routine. Although there is currently no cure for ASD, therapies and behavioral interventions aid children to gain social and language skills that in return help with their behavior and emotional display. Medicine is use a treatment and not a cure for ASD. Medication helps in preventing seizures and negative behavior.
